Cleaning up a river is a cause worth fighting for…. We had allowed some people to make good profit along the Hudson and then go somewhere else to enjoy clear water.

Conservation Corner: CVC 2008 Electrofishing Schedule
CVC 2008 Electrofishing Schedule This summer, the Credit Valley Conservation electrofishing crew will monitor 38 sites across the watershed. At many of the larger stations, we NEED volunteers to help complete the work. If possible, please volunteer to help with one or more of these larger sites listed below. The work is fun and rewarding and you will help us collect valuable data about the health of the river. Please email Heather Yates at stewardship@creditvalleycons.com or phone (905) 670-1615 (ext. 285) if you wish to help out with any of these dates or to get more information.

Fly Patterns: The Hen Wing Light Hendrickson
The Light Hendrickson fly has stood the test of time, simply because it does the job. This fly is different from the classic Catskill style that the Dette's and Darbie's made famous with the splayed duck wing feathers. This is a must have if you like the Hendrickson hatch in fast free stone rivers in Ontario, or anywhere for that matter. The other great treat of learning this style of fly is the many easy variations that you can tie just by using different colored dubbing or hackles. I hope this helps.

Protection Planning underway in the Duffins Creek
2/22/2005 - (TORONTO – February 21, 2005) The Regional Municipalities of Durham and York, the City of Pickering and Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) have partnered to begin a drinking water source protection study to ensure safe drinking water supplies are protected in the Duffins Creek and Carruthers Creek watersheds. Watershed based source protection planning is one of the most effective means of protecting the safety of Ontario’s drinking water as supported by the findings of the Walkerton Inquiry.

Hendrickson Hatch

The arrival of the holiday season always makes me think of the New Year and spring. The very word ‘spring’ makes me think of the river. The river makes me think of opening day. Then I am completely lost to the here and now and have drifted to the first good hatch of the year, which I believe to be

William Joseph Coastal Chest Pack
| William Joseph has people going Coastal and not without reason! I received a big box from William Joseph full of products to be reviewed. Many of my testers gravitated to this particular pack. I had to insist to many of them that it was not swag and they did have to give it back to me as it was being sent to The Trout Unlimited Silent Auction. |

The Clear Creek Baileys Ford Chest Pack
The Clear Creek Baileys Ford Chest Pack is a true blend of what you find in the chest pack market today. Clear Creek has found, what I think is everything that you need in an all-round chest pack. The Baileys Ford Pack is made in a rich rust colour that does not offend. Both the front and side straps are easy to adjust. The front pockets are both wide and deep giving you more than adequate room for very large fly boxes for large fish situations but it is not too big to be cumbersome – it is very versatile.
